Client

Aliaxis, a global industrial leader in advanced piping systems for building, infrastructure and industrial applications (~3 billion € turnover p.a., ~20.000 employees).

Background

Carve-out of the Wefatherm business unit from Akatherm, a company of Aliaxis in The Netherlands, and its integration into Marley Deutschland GmbH, a Aliaxis company in Germany.

Wefatherm is a pioneer in PP-R pipe manufacturing “Made in Germany”, for building and industrial applications, and in their international distribution.

Goals

Transfer of the business from Panningen to its production site in Wunstorf near Hannover, “bringing together what belongs together”. Gain process efficiencies while ensuring smooth implementation on a defined time schedule.

Strategy & Execution

  1. Analyse and understand the business to be carved-out, learning about the  manufacturing of drinking and sewage piping systems.
  2. Get to know the key stakeholders in both companies.
  3. Establish, and manage the project plan with timeline, milestones and actions
  4. Alignment and regular feedback with senior management and BoD.
  5. Transfer of key people, and redistribution of duties
  6. 6. Transfer of contracts and trademark rights
  7. Revise and optimize distribution strategy. Propose new hires.
  8. Sparring partner to the CEO

Ergebnisse

Smooth carve-out and relocation of Wefatherm sales and management from Akatherm in Holland to Marley in Germany, and integration of the business into the German production site.
“Go live” achieved on target date (1st Sep 2020), 9 months after start of project
Negotiation of the conditions and transfer of several employees from the old to the new organization
Sales growth after carve-out, despite Corona: + 20%
